Messina’s Catering BBQ Pulled Pork topped with pineapple slaw and served on a house made sweet potato biscuit paired with Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Ale

Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Ale paired with BBQ Pulled Pork.

Lazy Magnolia’s Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is a dark mahogany beer made with whole roasted pecans, giving this lightly hopped brew a nutty flavor profile. The BBQ pork is topped with pineapple slaw and served on a house made sweet potato biscuit.

Rougaroux Praline Rum paired with Roasted Duck Breast.

A Rougaroux Praline Rum Old Fashioned pairs perfectly with Messina’s roasted duck breast served atop a gouda cheese and bacon grit cake, topped with a praline sauce and orange garnish.

Deep in the heart of Southern Louisiana Cajun Country lurks a mysterious creature known as the Rougaroux®, (Roo ga roo). It lingers in the sugarcane fields and swamps, emerging only during a full moon to exact justice on the wicked. Legend has it that 13 pennies laid outside your door will protect you. The Rougaroux® cannot count past the number 12 and will keep trying until the sun rises and he has to retreat back to his lair. Rougaroux® 13 Pennies Praline Rum is made with locally produced raw sugar and molasses and is flavored with toasted pecans, local craftmade cane syrup, and Madagascar vanilla beans. This rum is handcrafted in small batches at the Rougaroux® distillery, located in the middle of a sugarcane field in Thibodaux, Louisiana. And yes…. There are 13 Pennies right outside their front door. (story shared with permission).

Oryza Vodka Bloody Mary paired with Chef’s “Dirty” Oyster.

Locally produced by the Donners and the Peltiers, Oryza vodka is made by hand, one batch at a time using locally grown rice, water purified through four different methods. It is distilled 17 times with a custom made, steam driven, copper Kothe vodka still. That’s “pure” flavor right there.

Chef’s “Dirty” Oyster, a crispy oyster served atop a bed of dirty rice and topped with hollandaise sauce is the perfect match for this spicy beverage.

Landry Vineyards Chardonnay paired with Baked Stuffed Shrimp.

This Chardonnay hails from the vineyards of West Monroe, and boasts a bright and vibrant flavor with the sweet essence of honey, apple, and pear. This wine’s buttery, smooth character is warm and inviting and pairs perfectly with these butterflied shrimp stuffed with Louisiana Blue Crab dressing.
