REAL WEDDING:: REBECCA BARRAS + TAYLOR MCLELLAN

The PROPOSAL, IN TAYLOR’S WORDS:

“I found exactly what I was looking for at Adler’s on Canal Street, but the ring setting had to get adjusted to fit the diamond I wanted to put in the center. After a week-long series of wayward events that brought the ring to various locations across the city, and even across the river, it was finally fitted just in time for me to pop the question right before New Year’s 2018 celebrations. The morning that it was finally ready, we had to be in Baton Rouge for an event. I had to enlist my sister and aunt to stall her with shopping at the Mall of Louisiana, and my mom and dad to drive to the Westbank to pick it up and then sneak the ring into our apartment before we got home from BR. My family pulled through like champions. We got home, it was waiting for me hidden in the closet. I sneaked it into my pocket, and we went up to our rooftop view of downtown New Orleans. We had nearly the entire roof to ourselves, and the weather was great, so I took the opportunity. She could tell I was hiding something, so it didn’t take long for me to just make the move. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. We popped open a bottle of bubbles, and the rest is history.”

No Sicilian-inspired wedding would be complete without a performance of the “Tarantella”, a traditional Italian folk dance, at the reception.

After a sparkler exit from the reception, Rebecca and Taylor second lined with their guests from Ursuline Convent through the French Quarter to the Hotel Monteleone on Royal Street. The happy couple honeymooned in Italy and shook hands with Pope Francis at the “Sposi Novelli” (newlywed) blessing.
