When we asked our friends over at Tujague’s Restaurant on Decatur what their favorite Fall inspired cocktail was, Nancy Weinstock exclaimed, “The Grasshopper of course! Tujague’s is celebrating their 100th anniversary of the Grasshopper this November. What better time to have the famous after-dinner drink? According to restaurant lore, Philibert Guichet, whose family purchased the restaurant from founders Guillaume and Marie Tujague in the 1910s, invented the drink for a 1918 cocktail competition in New York City. It won second place!”

“A holiday sangria is the perfect specialty cocktail for a fall wedding,” says Krystle Abalos, owner of Everly Event Planning & Design. “A twist on the the traditional red sangria recipe, the holiday sangria screams fall with pomegranate seeds, cinnamon sticks and crisp green pears! Then it’s accented by an orange liquor, brandy, a little agave nectar and finished off with ginger ale for some effervescence. It has all the smells and cozy feels of the perfect, crisp fall day. For an extra unique and pretty photo op. pop- add some whip cream!”
Holiday Sangria Ingredients:
1 Bottle of Red Wine (Dry)
That one will Jingle my Bells for sure!
