Elizabeth and Jake: The Race of a Lifetime

Elizabeth and Jake are both runners, but no amount of training could’ve prepared them for their most important race to date… the race down the aisle!

It all started in April of 2014, when the two met at Happy Runner’s Club in New Orleans. It was just a few days before the Crescent City Classic 10k race, which they were both participating in. A mutual friend introduced them that fateful day and they decided to hang out again the night before the race… and again at the post-race celebration. Since then they’ve run in races all across the country and did quite a bit of traveling to see family in Mighigan and Boston. They even went on a recent jungle adventure in Costa Rica!

Even with all of that “running” around, Elizabeth and Jake would always come back home to their three cats and dog in New Orleans. So, it only seemed fitting that as Jake dropped to one knee, one of their rescue cats, Oscar, delivered the ring to Elizabeth (attached to his collar.) This time, it was her heart that was racing, but she excitedly said “Yes!”

On December 30, 2017, the couple gathered with 125 guests from around the country, to say their vows at Race + Religious. Jake’s sister, Happie Ledet, officiated over the ceremony and, afterwards, everyone participated in a traditional second line. This was a real treat for so many out of town guests to experience, and was one of the couple’s favorite moments!

Then, after eating savory food by FlavorBox Catering and a delicious cake created by Flour Power, they all danced the night away to music by At Fault.
