2020 Trend Report with Pearl’s Place Bridal

Who’s ready to go shopping?

We may be all stuck inside, but new trends in bridal fashion are still hitting stores! I chatted (virtually, of course, #socialdistancing) with Jessica Schulman of Pearl’s Place Bridal in Metairie about the new arrivals they have in store, the hot new color palette and trends for Fall 2020 and, best of all, the virtual appointments they’re offering for brides while social distancing protocols are in effect.

Yes, you read that right, you can still enjoy some retail therapy and find THE DRESS, and you don’t even have to leave your house!

First up: BOHO IS BIG (AND SO IS LACE)!

“We’re finding a lot of brides want to be romantic, but want to keep it simple and relaxed,” says Schulman. The Boho look is perfect for brides who want romance, but don’t want to be too over the top.  The Boho look is soft, and gowns feature long, bohemian sleeves, long trains and lots of lace.

Schulman is seeing something new in lace though: Linear lace is trending. “It’s a new way to exhibit something that’s been classically ‘bride’ which is lace. They’re cutting the lace in a way to make it more modern. We’re seeing not only vertical linear lace, but horizontal linear lace is really in style right now.”

CREPE IS STILL HOT

“Crepe came in hot last year and it’s still hot,” says Schulman. “Simplicity is a big theme, however brides want a little bit more. We’re seeing a lot of cutouts, lace detail, a little bit of sparkle. Crepe with a little bit extra.”

A NEW TWIST ON FLORAL

“Floral is always in style, but we’re seeing it come back big,” Schulman shares. “3-D floral is huge right now. It’s going to everything from bridal, to mother of the bride to flower girl gowns, as well as in accessories.” Floral is also playing into the Bohemian feel that brides are loving right now.

COLOR PALETTES (AND FABRICS) FOR FALL 2020

Blush, which has been a popular choice for bridesmaids gowns for several seasons isn’t going anywhere soon, but some new colors are trending for Fall 2020 weddings. Rust and Spice colors are on trend if you’re tying the knot this Fall. Look for bridesmaids gowns in stretch satin and velvet fabrics in these warm colors.

Hang in there. Keep planning. Keep loving.

“Our hearts go out to our beautiful brides whose special events have been effected by the pandemic,” says Schulman. “Remember your wedding has been postponed, not cancelled. Your love story will still be told.”

Pearl’s Place Bridal is available for virtual appointments Monday-Saturday, 10am-12pm and by appointment outside of those times.
Call 504-885-9213 or email info@pearlsplace.com to schedule your appointment.
