Robert and Beth met unexpectedly on May 5, 2007 at a local restaurant. Beth was encouraged by friends to walk up to Robert and begin a conversation. Immediately the couple fell for each other and a few months before Christmas in 2008 started talking about possibly getting married. Robert and Beth were engaged on December 25, 2008, planned for a short engagement and soon were married on April 11, 2009.
Beth always dreamed of a plantation-like setting and decided on Southern Oaks Plantation, as the location for the ceremony and reception. Beth comments that she fell in love with the exterior of the house which would be the location for the ceremony.
Beth turned her focus early in the planning process to the wedding gown because of her short engagement time. With only two dress appointments, Beth picked her perfect gown, an ivory lace-accented strapless gown from Town and Country. Her veil was knee-length and had a beautiful lace edging.
Beth’s bridesmaids attire accented the theme of the Spring wedding. They wore vibrant celery, knee length dresses because Beth loved the soft green color in the Shantung fabric. The groomsmen were dressed in dark chocolate brown suits; the groom wore an ivory tie and the groomsmen wore celery colored ties to complement the bridesmaid’s dresses.
Beth and a few of her friends strung each of the necklaces that the bridesmaids would wear and had a special matching brooch made to accent her wedding gown.
The florist for Robert and Beth’s wedding was Bella Blooms Floral. Beth brought a color swatch from the bridesmaids dresses and Diem with Bella Blooms developed a variety of ideas for her to choose from. Beth chose arrangements of green orchids, yellow tulips, day lillies, hydrangeas, and roses. Diem also created whimsical fl oral arrangements for the ceremony area and also to accent the cake.
Beth made her grand entrance to the wedding in a horse-drawn carriage. The ceremony took place on the steps of Southern Oaks Plantation and after the ceremony, Robert and Beth were treated to a carriage ride around the plantation property.
The four-tier square cake for the wedding reception was created by Haydel’s Bakery and included different flavors for each tier. The wedding cake was all white buttercream frosting with a scroll work icing design. Haydel’s also made the Groom’s cake which was a cut-out of the bride dragging the groom away from his hunting excursions.
Robert and Beth wanted to preserve all the memories of their wedding and selected Kristin Guin Photography. Kristin looks at a wedding as a timeless event and a time when life change begins. Kristen captured every moment from the bridal preparations at the Maison Dupuy Hotel in the French Quarter to the end of the reception.
After cutting the cake and tossing the bouquet and garter, Beth and Robert enjoyed dancing with their guests until the evening’s end.
The couple loved all details involved in the wedding and were amazed that it all came together so beautifully in such a short time.
