Real Wedding: Sara + Chris {Destination New Orleans Wedding at the Chateau LeMoyne}

Sara and Chris met while working in the same veterinary emergency room and soon realized they shared more than a love of animals. After three years of dating and friendship, Chris knew that Sara was it for him, so with the help of their regular waitress at their favorite sushi spot, Chris proposed and Sara said yes.

Admiring the love of their parents and grandparents, Chris and Sara wanted to highlight them and their combined total of 250 years of advice and wisdom for their special day and the years after.

“We wanted to honor that in someway, particularly since our grandparents were unable to travel,” Sara says.

“To do this, we surrounded our guest book table with photos from all of their weddings, which looked beautiful and was definitely inspiring to look at throughout the evening.”

Chris’s favorite single event was the “First Look” orchestrated by our photographer. The anticipation and excitement leading up to that moment was surpassed only by the ‘reveal.’ (his words, not mine) – Sara

Chris, a touring musician, asked his bandmates to be his groomsmen and his brother, Matt, to sing Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up” during the ceremony.

“One of my favorite memories will be looking up at the windows surrounding the courtyard and seeing them filled with hotel guests who paused to hear [Matt’s] amazing voice and a small moment during the ceremony in which Chris presented my son, Jackson, with a gift to represent the beginning of our new family together,” Sara says.

While Sara and Chris were a bit intimidated at the thought of planning a destination wedding in New Orleans, they knew no other city would be more perfect to celebrate their union.

Sara and Chris chose New Orleans for their destination wedding because they “so desperately wanted to share the love we have for New Orleans with our friends and family.” – Sara

“Chris and I have visited this city on several occasions throughout our relationship, and love it more and more each time,” Sara says. “It’s beauty, charm, and uniqueness are addicting, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting place to celebrate our marriage – surrounded by the people we love, in the place that we love.”
