Their trivia team couldn’t be beat, and neither could their growing love for each other. Lane and Sheila met over pub trivia at the Bridge Lounge on Magazine Street. Lane was great at sports and movies, and Sheila ruled the science and music categories.

With Sheila matching Lane’s game square for square, Lane couldn’t help but ask at 10,000 ft on top of a volcano in Maui, Hawaii, during the start of a new day, for Sheila to take on the game called life together as his wife. Of course she said yes!

Lane romantically used a stone from an earring given to him by his great grandmother for the engagement ring. She had given each of her two sons an earring to be used for their wives’ wedding bands. Set in the 1920’s, the jewels have been passed down for generations.

After an emotional rehearsal dinner, filled with laughter, tears and a brilliant music video of Lane singing “Oh Sheila,” (he actually learned all four instrumental parts) the winning pair were ready to walk down the aisle.

Soaking their wedding in New Orleans charm, the couple made their wedding a destination event for their out of town guests. From crawfish bowls, Mardi Gras throws and Zapps chips to a hurricane fountain, gris gris gift bags and obituary cocktail guest book, Lane and Sheila designed a wedding that highlighted their falling in love with each other and the city of New Orleans.

“Our wedding theme was basically showcasing New Orleans at its finest,” Sheila said. “We are proud to call New Orleans home and I believe we really showcased the city very well for our guests.”
