They first interacted at her high school dance. And while he made her laugh, growing up in a strict traditional Chinese home and being the only girl didn’t make dating easy. So, Anthony and Kathy spent most of their time getting to know each other on AOL Messenger. In exchange for washing his friend’s car, Anthony would get a ride to the high school so they could chat in person while Kathy waited for her mom to pick her up. On the weekends, Kathy would beg her brothers and cousins to tag along to the local bowling center so she get a moment of time with her Anthony.
After three years of dating, Anthony and Kathy were gifted with a beautiful baby girl. Although her parents sent to Kathy to live her aunt in California to have the baby, Anthony and Kathy’s love for each other and their daughter never faded.
After 15 years of living in separate households, Anthony veered from his normal habits and asked Kathy to take a walk with him on the beach to take pictures while they were on a trip to Destin, Florida. Camera in hand, ready to capture any perfect moment that passed her by, Kathy didn’t realize she would be capturing her own when she looked down to see Anthony on one knee with a custom ring they both designed. It was no surprise when she said “Yes!”
Since both sides of the family are practicing Buddhists, Kathy and Anthony held a traditional tea ceremony. With blessings given by their elders, a nontraditional allowance of the bride walking down the aisle and a special poem read by their daughter, Kathy got every bit of elegance and romance she wanted in her wedding and more.
“We feel that our story is one of true love and commitment, two aspects that is important in marriage,” Kathy says. “We both agreed that we could feel the love in the room that night.”

"Our families are Buddhist and very superstitious. We had to consult a Buddhist Feng Shui Master, who took our birthdates and time of birth to find us the "perfect" date. We're not exactly sure how he does it, but we accepted the date and started the planning process!"
Honoring their Buddhist tradition, the wedding morning consisted of a Traditional Tea Ceremony where the couple prayed to their ancestors and served their elders tea as a sign of respect and thanks.
"We also wanted to make sure that our daughter wasn't forgotten in the hustle and bustle of the day. She stood by my side as a junior bridesmaid."
Kathy and Anthony's daughter stood by their side during their vow exchange and also read a special poem during the ceremony as a gift to her parents.
Anthony and Kathy danced to "Back at One" by Brian McKnight which over the years had become "their song." "It was the first moment we had to ourselves throughout the day, and even though all eyes were on us, it felt like it was just the two of us in the room." - Kathy
