REAL WEDDING: ELBERT + HEATHER {A Haunting Love}

They were high school friends that lost touch in college, but fate wasn’t ready for them to be apart. Accidental meetings over the years became purposeful as they realized that they had a connection too strong to ignore. So, 12 years after becoming friends as 16 years olds, Elbert asked Heather to be not just his best friend, but his wife. Of course she said yes.

Enthralled with the darker side of life, Heather and Elbert embraced a Halloweenesque wedding theme in honor of Heather’s favorite holiday.

While traditional aspects of a wedding were present, all the decorations were bewitched in their own way. From the spider accessories and orange and purple accents worn by the bridal party to the raven lovebirds atop their cake, the wedding was an embodiment of Elbert and Heather’s love.

The wedding also featured a Bone Reader, Tarot Card Reader, a skeleton on stilts and gris gris bags passed out by Marie Laveau; and to complete the hauntingly romantic theme, the man of honor made Elbert and Heather skeleton walking staffs decked out with skulls, spiders and lots of Halloween feathers to be used in their second line instead of umbrellas.

Heather was not afraid to let her personality shine through on her wedding day.

“Weddings are about tradition, sure, but more importantly, they are about you! I think more brides are becoming comfortable with this and allowing their weddings to be a reflection of themselves and their unique love with their partner,” Heather said. “I will never forget the romantic darkness of the candlelit room, the eeriness of the music and my friend of all those years, standing there waiting for me.”

Creating the perfect moment to start their happily ever after, Elbert and Heather “loved with a love that was more than love,” just like Edgar Allen Poe and his Annabel Lee.
