REAL WEDDING:: COURTNEY + JAKE {All You Really Need is Love}

For many couples it can take months or even years to plan the “perfect wedding”. From booking caterers to finding the best venue, there is one thing you just can’t plan for: the weather.

And this was true for Courtney and Jake. All the planning in the world could not have prepared them for the historic flood that occurred in southern Louisiana. When flooding began in earnest on August 12th, the rising waters took with it two-thirds of Courtney and Jake’s guests as well as their wedding venue for the following day.

But come hell or high water, Courtney and Jake were getting married on August 13th, 2016. Jake’s parents offered their home, Courtney’s brother cooked jambalaya and both families contributed to make sure the ceremony and reception were magical.

“Our friends and family rallied around us to make sure we had the most memorable night of our lives,” Courtney says, and “…those who could not be there sent an overwhelming amount of love and support.”

Even though their original reception venue was washed out, they were still able to have their first dance, bouquet and garter toss and Cajun wedding march right in Jake’s parent’s living room.

“We wanted a classic and fun Cajun wedding, and even with the last minute changes due to the flooding, we made it happen,” Courtney says.

Even if nothing goes as planned, celebrating your commitment to spend your life with the one you love is what a wedding is all about. All you really do need is love.
